Shed Building Blueprints – Making A Wooden Shed In Your Yard

With some woodworking tools, about $1000 in materials, at least 3 days to dedicate to the project and your shed building blueprints, one can easy convert a bland empty area into a stylish 10 by 12 or 10 by 15 shed. Today we will be giving a few tips on how to get it done properly.

The foundation on which your structure is built needs to be leveled, solid, and contain no excess dirt or debris. There must be a minimum of 2 feet of space present at the base of the building so that there will be room for landscaping. Ensure that the identified doorways will have easy access in open areas.

Run a quick check to ensure that no sprinkler systems or cable wires are present in the area chosen. This specific structure will have a foundation made of cement or gravel so checking for underlying items is vital in order to create a strong foundation.

Next we build the actual base. Start by measuring using 5 pre – treated studs (2 x 4) so that it matches the length of the shed's base that will be used. Use the first five and lay them vertically. Next lay a few 2 by 4 or 2 by 6 studs horizontally on top of them.

Now mark the outside frame and nail all the horizontal ones to it. Square up the outside frame from each corner. Nail each stud vertically onto the horizontal one. Now create the shed's base as seen on the shed building blueprints by laying down the floor joists on the glued studs then nailing it to the horizontal studs.

Build the walls with 2 X 4 or 2 X 6 studs. Mark the top and bottom studs and ensure that they are 18 inches apart from each other. On a flat surface nail the vertical studs to the horizontal studs. Proceed to lift the walls upright and nail each corner wall to the shed's base.

Measure the door and window frames properly. Put some consideration and study the blueprint before anything else is built for this can assist the project. Measure the windows and make sure to add another 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch of space the when placing the windows. The frame on the windows is usually cut out with a router before they are lifted into place. The doors will need space for the hinges and easy movement to open and shut the doors properly.

The design of the roof depends on the shed building blueprints you are using. You will need to pre-cut some of the roofing sheets before adding the gables or the trusts. You start by measuring the placement and putting space of each trust. You will then lift them into place on top of your walls. Then you will need to nail the stud across the trusts to keep them stable and aligned. Once you have the trusts nailed into position then you can add the wood sheets to form the face of the roof and nail them to the trusts forming the roof.
